  • Hyundai announced that it will unveil a Veloster N Performance concept at SEMA next month.
  • The concept features a variety of bolt-on performance and aesthetic accessories.
  • Hyundai says that there's a good chance that these modifications will become available for sale, though we don't know when.

The Veloster N just became the second-fastest front-wheel-drive car to lap Virginia International Raceway at C/D's annual Lightning Lap test—the fastest being the Honda Civic Type R. Hyundai could be taking a shot at the red-badged Honda with this new Veloster N Performance concept.

The concept, to be on display at the SEMA aftermarket show, features a variety of bolt-on accessories aimed at tapping into the already capable Veloster N's performance potential. These accessories are only in concept form, but Hyundai says, promisingly, that there's a chance that they'll become available to the public.

The orange-accented exterior is modified with a KWA hood, an engine cover, more aggressive fog lamp surrounds, a front splitter, side skirts, an angular carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser with Capristo cat-back anodized exhaust tips. You can also get 19-inch OZ Racing wheels with N-brand carbon wheel center caps mounted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

The chassis, suspension, and brakes are also upgraded with a WIF front, center, and rear chassis brace with an aluminum caliper bracket, Daewon Steel anti-roll bars, Extreme Racing coil-over suspension, H&R coil springs, Alcon forged six-piston front brake calipers and four-piston calipers in the rear, and 15.0-inch front rotors and 14.2-inch rotors out back.

The cabin is orange-accented and full of Alcantara. It's found on the gear-knob boot, steering wheel, parking lever, air-vent surround, headliner and pillar liners, armrests, and doors. Other additions include carbon-fiber trim, Sabelt alcantara and carbon sport seats, an aluminum shifter, and a red start/stop button.

We love seeing all of the concepts at SEMA, most of which we hope will become reality. This bonkers Veloster N is definitely in that category. Perhaps we'll eventually be able to lap one around VIR and see how it stacks up against the Civic Type R.ly be able to lap one around VIR and see how it stacks up against the Civic Type R.
